Ricco 400 W 5 – Cheap and very cheerful!

Good product could be better. Sounds good bit bigger than expected needs an optic cable, but other than that great for gaming and films.

Had this for a week now and i’m overall really pleased with it. I bought it to play the newly mixed jethro tull albums in 5. 1 and also to put my xbox one through it. For both things it works a treat and really opens the sound up. Hearing new things in albums i’ve been listening to for years is great and this system does a good job of bringing the mix to life. Same with xbox games like need for speed, hearing cars drive past you is really good fun. 5mm input so, if you have a tv with stereo out in that format (or a tablet/laptop or phone without bluetooth) you can use a cable to hook it up for (stereo) sound with this system. The bluetooth feature is pretty good – i’ve got my samsung galaxy s5 connected and it plays music fine unless you’re downloading something or otherwise using the internet – for some reason this plays havoc with things, presumably because the phone is working overtime rather than a fault with the sound system itself.

Audio system is ok for it’s price but there is few issues. Delivery was very quick and the item looks ok. Speakers are fine, loud enough. Unfortunately there is few issues with the design of this home theater system. 1st it has to be on in order to pass through hdmi signal. 2nd when it’s off (stand by) you can hear noise coming from the speakers. The only way not to hear the noise is to unplug the unit :-(3rd no dts, no dolby digital. Only one supported sound format is aac. 4th you can’t use any of three pro logic sound effects (hall, church, etc) when hdmi 1 or hdmi 2 inputs are selected. Considering cost of around 100 eur it’s not too bad but soon enough you’ll find the need for upgrade.

  • Cheap and very cheerful!
  • Beware. No true surround.
  • I really can’t believe the sound quality from this unit

if you play a dvd/blu-ray or video from the sony blu-ray player or anything from usb the hdmi signal drops out. You have to select hdmi 1 then return back to hdmi 2 to get a picture?also, the volume is not very good on each speaker selection?.You cannot tell the difference. With such a good amp as this, which i think they have done well and based in the uk;-) its a shame, because of the issues. I hope they can sort this out. I shall email them regarding the problems. I did try and upload videos to amazon, but they would not upload?. I will see what format and size amazon require. Regardsmr antony hinks (portsmouth)ps: found this 3 hours later. Maybe the problem:http://www. Com/uk/news/do-i-need-a-new-av-receiver-to-go-with-my-4k-tv/.

I really can’t believe the sound quality from this unit. I really can’t believe the sound quality from this unit at this price, plenty of bass and sharp, clear top end. 1 available but i doubt one could be found at anything close to the price and quality of this one.
